I’m back from a week of trains to automobiles to planes to automobiles! I just got back from two conferences and wanted to share some of the takeaways from The Southern C that has me inspired and I think you all could benefit from too!
As someone who has probably way too much Estelle colored glass I was thrilled to hear Stephanie speak for the second time. One of my biggest takeaways from her was a reminder to be editorial. Meaning share your story because people buy your story before they buy your products. Show who you are the founder, share your why.
I was super excited for the panel with Anne Marie of Dillards and influencers Natalie Steen and Kimberly Whitman as I admire their style and businesses. From them I learned to verbalize what you want. Tell someone your goals or what you’re in need of or dreaming to do. When you do this not only does it hold you accountable but they might be able to connect you with someone who can get you there.
My next lesson was from Sandra Campos, I was sad to miss her speak at the summit last year when I had to duck out early for a flight but glad I got the opportunity to hear her this time. From her I took away two messages. The first being to picture where you want to be or who you want to be then think backwards of the steps to how they got there and go execute them. It’s funny because Sallie Holder recently said the same thing so it must work! Basically having an end goal gives us something to work towards and something solid to achieve.
The other thing I took away from Sandra’s speech was to help at least one person along the way, to give back and pay it forward. Passing along a name to someone, making an introduction costs you nothing but could be a bit difference for them.
