How perfect is this dress for my birthday? On Friday I turn 30 and to celebrate Will is taking me to The Greenbrier. I’ve never bene but it’s been on my list for years and everyone tells me I’ll love it. When we made these plans I knew I had to have a fabulous dress to wear and found this sparkly number at Pink Colony! To celebrate turning 30 I thought I’d do a post on 30 things about me so you can get to know me better (you might remember when I did one a few years ago here with even more)…
- I wear a retainer every night because I have literal nightmares about my teeth becoming crooked.
- That leads me to my next fact, I had a retainer, braces, expander, etc. for many, many years until freshmen year of high school.
- I wear contacts every day. I have horrible vision for seeing far away and need contacts or glasses to see anything in the distance. I’ve had glasses since 4th grade.
- I have scoliosis. When they would test kids for it in elementary school at the nurses office they discovered my spine was curved. Luckily I’ve never had to wear a brace but it’s noticeable if you look for it.
- I played on my tennis team in college and want to get back into it once I take care of my wrist issues.
- I also cheered in college because my roommate Julia was the captain. We didn’t have a football team, only basketball.
- I am also a teacher. I am an adjunct professor for my alma mater Immaculata University where I teach fashion marketing/ field experience classes.
- I’ve never smoked a cigarette ever in my life. They gross me out!
- I’m never the fastest or the strongest but I’m surprisingly flexible. I could easily reach a foot pst my feet growing up and now can still easily touch my toes without any practice in stretching or exercise.
- My mom had me when she was 21, my dad and her got married when she was 19. I always think this is part of the reason we are so close.
- I am mostly Rusyn. Basically it’s easier to say that I’m Polish though. As well as 20% Irish, 10% German and 5% Italian… thank you 23 and Me!
- Growing up I dreamed about owning a dance studio then it became a clothing boutique. It wasn’t until I was applying for college that I wanted to become a publicist.
- Last year I found out I’m allergic to dairy. I should have know as growing up my throat would always tighten and my lips would itch when I had dairy, plus my mom had to give me soy milk as a baby. But I officially got tested and turns out I’m pretty badly allergic.
- Just like any basic girl I readily quote scenes and reference from Mean Girls, Bridesmaids, Baby Mama and Elf.
- The concerts I’ve been to are; Backstreet Boys (hello, 90s child), Tom Petty, Hootie & The Blowfish, Better Than Ezra, Florida Georgia Line and Dave Matthews Band.
- Marty is named after Frank Sinatra’s boxing name/ his parents speakeasy bar and Miles is after Miles Davis.
- My nicknames are; Tricia, Trish, Pimm, Willis, Patty Cakes and Patrice
- I really enjoy visiting big cities but I’m much more a country girl. I live on 3 acres and across from over farm that’s over 100 acres.
- I mostly write cursive.
- The furthest I’ve ever driven by myself is 3 hours. Not that I’m a bad driver (actually depends who you ask) I just usually am traveling with someone.
- I’ve got in two minor fender benders (*knocks on wood) and have 1 speeding ticket. But many parking tickets and talked my car out of getting towed as it was getting hook up onto the tow truck for illegally parking.
- I have a certificate in interior design from Temple University, for a hot second a few years ago I thought about changing careers so that’s how I dipped my feet in. Turns out I love decorating for fun and being a publicist still.
- I hate cinnamon gum and toothpaste…. yuck!
- I love to learn and have taking the following classes for fun (not in school); sewing, floral arranging, wine tasting, cooking, photography, tennis and golf.
- Some classes I want to take this year are kitchen knife skills, golf and tennis again, gardening and cocktail making.
- I have a minor in French and have taken French since 4th grade (and a private tutor growing up) but still can barely speak, read or write it somehow.
- I really want to go to Napa Valley, Alaska, Greece, Spain, Switzerland, India, Australia and Vail.
- I am obsessed with my dogs and make my parents send me pictures when they are watching them (even if its just while I run to the store), have a camera on their crate and take them even just to run to the bank with me!
- I had Lymes disease as kid.
- I’m pretty good at picking up notes in wine and what kind it is.
