Let’s talk wedding hair and makeup today. I always knew I’d have the team at Currie do my hair and makeup as I’ve worked with them before, love how they’re a one stop shop (literally for everything you could need even before the wedding; like massages and facials) and trust their team immensely. I was thrilled when Melissa at Currie in Glen Mills who always does my hair was able to do it for the big day!
Initially when I got my dress I thought I was going to do a low, loose bun for my hair. Something classic and elegant. But then I got some hair inspiration from a very un-likely source… J.Lo. Yep, Jennifer Lopez. When her and Ben got married in Vega I fell in love with her half up, half down hairdo. It has volume, was chic and still classic and it wasn’t too far off form my natural hair to being with.
I went to Melissa with my idea and she loved it too. Looking back I’m happy I opted for this as with a strapless dress I think I needed some hair on my shoulders to not look overexposed. We pulled the look together with this Jennifer Behr butterfly hair piece. I’ve been obsessed with butterflies for our wedding and knew this would be a classic statement.
Of course, Currie did mine and my bridesmaids makeup with our hair. To be honest, I’m not a big makeup gal. I don’t really know how to do much with makeup and hate wearing a lot of it. I trusted their team to make me feel beautiful, natural and stay put all night. I did however though bring my own YSL lipstick. If there’s one makeup item I love its a luxe lipstick. My lashes are permanent extensions that I’ve been getting done by Nina at Currie for a while on and off the past few years so I didn’t have to worry too much about crying.
Any other beauty questions from my big day?
