Celebrating in 2020 and now 2021 is hard! I’m never one to skip a birthday celebration so I put together a virtual champagne tasting class for my friends to enjoy with me safely in their own homes via Zoom. I contacted my friend and favorite wine expert Serena of What Am I Drinking to hold the class for us. I’ve done a ton of her classes over the years, in person and virtual and highly recommend her, even if you’re not local she can do a virtual classes with you.
We started the Zoom with Serena teaching everyone about the history of champagne and the methods it is made. Then she walked us through how to properly taste your wine/bubbly. Then Serena opened up the discussion where everyone talked about the champagne they brought for the Zoom and what they thought based on her tasting walk through. It was educational, fun, Covid friendly and a great way to celebrate!
Now for the boxes…
I mailed or dropped off a box of goodies before class to everyone. The boxes included a party hat for fun, a cookie I had my friend Kate made that looked like a birthday cake so we could still enjoy the tradition of sharing birthday cake together and a champagne flute customized for each person as well as a paper straw. Since I wasn’t spending money on food, drinks and decor for everyone I spent some money on giving everyone this treat before class.
I also included a note with all the details for the Zoom class and wrapped them up in my Alexandra Williams gift wrap.
