On the heels of the New England Coastal Creative last week and coming up to The Southern C next week I thought I’d share some of my tips for networking as they are both two of my favorite networking conferences.
- checkout the attendee list ahead of time and make a strategic list of who you’d like to meet
- reach out to attendees via social media beforehand to start engaging
- if the conference is multiple days and with free time then make dinner, lunch and drink reservations with groups of people. I find everyone always appreciates someone taking the initiative and including them
- pack branded merchandise to stand out. For example, a tote bag with your logo embroidered, your own coffee tumbler with your branding, pens with you logo
- if you’re a brand then reach out to others and see if they’d like any product from you to wear during the conference
- bring a freebie, example a cute sticker or pin that is branded that you can handout to friends you network with so that they remember you and your marketing is out there
- if you’re like me and value a little alone time or unwinding then pack hobbies or crafts such as a book, needlepoint or watercolors to do in your room after a long day of networking
- send follow up emails a day or two after you arrive home to make sure your efforts get put to work
- send a thank you note to the organizer
But above all, remember to have fun!
While this fabulous skirt may be sold out, the brand Caryn Lawn which I purchased it from is having a fabulous end of season sale. You can find tons of other beautiful dresses, tops and jackets (many of which I have too!) on super sale right now here.
