Okay, this is totally not the most glamorous post but its IRL and it’s an unfinished room with pipes and concrete. It is what it is. When I was showing on Instagram Stories how I was organizing my downstairs storage/prop room you guys voted and said you wanted to see more, so here we are. First off I feel like I need to explain myself as to why I have so much stuff. Reason 1 being when my grandparents downsized and moved they gave me a lot of their stuff as I’m their only granddaughter. Reason 2: with my business Piqued PR I do a lot of photo shoots and events for clients so I developed my own little stock of things we often need. Lastly, I’ll admit it, I like things and I like to shop 😉
When I started putting together this room I knew I wanted to keep things in it with the purpose to use them more. Meaning why not pull out linen napkins, pretty floral table clothes or antique vases on a regular Tuesday? I decided to bring in and organize those types of items and leave holiday decorations, extra decor items and old lamps in the garage.
I’ve broken SO many glasses and vases when I stored them in the garage by dropping them on the concrete floor so I knew I needed a padded floor under my shelves and opted for these snap together tiles.
I organized everything by category so I could easily know what section of the room to look in when searching. Basically all vases together, all pitchers in one place, candle holders, etc. I used Courtney‘s hack of this cheap shoe shelf for my napkins and hung all my table clothes on a rolling rack verses the box I usually keep them in so I could see them all and they wouldn’t be as wrinkled.
While the majority is done I still need to better organize my flatware, place card holders and paper party goods but this is progress people!
Love, love, love it!!
