Entertain with Ease

I was recently asked for tips on entertaining. It is something that comes naturally to me and a truly enjoy doing but I realize that it is not that way for everyone. Here are some tips to get started:

  1. Come up with a theme. If I’m hosting just a few girlfriends or our annual Christmas party, I always pick a theme. Even if it is as simple as a color palette or print.
  2. Pull out the tablecloths, silver or china plates. I’m a firm believer in using what you have and making even a simple dinner with your husband on a Tuesday night feel special with those “fancy” pieces that usually just sit in storage.
  3. Make a playlist and have music playing as you put your finishing touches on your party and for guest as they enter your home. It sets the mood.
  4. Have a coat rack or rolling rack in a spare room to hang coats. It’s a nice gesture and I don’t know about you but I have no extra space in my coat closet.
  5. Invite a friend over at least 30 minutes before the party starts to help you with last minute details. This also allows your to relax a little.
  6. Hire a Party Host Helper. They can help with setup, serving, bartending or cleaning.
  7. Get custom cookies or sweets made. Not only are they pretty to display (and eat, duh!) but also are a great parting favor for guests.
