First off, excuse the iPhone pictures but I didn’t bring my “nice” camera with me to Dallas. However, I thought I’d share my Dallas trip pictures and a little travel guide, should you want to visit for yourself! Here are some of my favorite places we went:
1- Downtown- Everyone told us we had to check out the longhorn statues in downtown Dallas. There are so many of them, they are truly beautiful and the perfect spot for a picture.
As a big shopper I had to stop by the Neimen Marcus flagship store. While small with not much merchandise, it’s worth it just to say you’ve been.
There are a lot of museums downtown but the 6th Floor Museum is something you want to include on your list. It’s the building from which JFK was shot. It explores JFK life, death, conspiracies and more.
The Eye of Dallas is an art sculpture and very realistic looking that its almost creepy. It’s right in downtown so you’re sure to pass it at some point during your visit. A block away from it I spotted Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper! Go figure I see her in Dallas and not Waco.
On our way to Highland Park we stopped by The George W. Bush Presidential Library & Museum. They had a First Lady exhibit that had vintage dresses which I really enjoyed as well as a whole section on 911.
2- The Shops of Highland Park Village- I had to make a trip a bit from downtown to visit the Dallas location of Draper James. One of my favorite clothing brands and by Reese Witherspoon. In the center they also have the cutest little bakery, Bird Bakery, stop in for a cupcake!
3- Waco- What’s a trip to Dallas without driving an hour or so to Waco to check out all the Chip & Joanna stops? We started our day with breakfast at Magnolia Table and the food was delicious! I recommend going on a weekday and first thing as there is always a line but well worth it.
From there we went to Magnolia Market. Here they have their shop, food trucks, garden center and more.
We made sure to stop at Chip & Jo’s go-to wood worker and visit Harp Design Co. The store is small but has unique finds for purchase.
Did you know Waco is home to Dr. Pepper? I did not! You can stop by the old factory and go on a tour. While we didn’t do the tour we did stop by and check out the historic building.
Waco has some really cute shops! My favorite shopping in the city was Spice Market. Here there were countless booths with everything from clothes to vintage plates.
The bridge in Waco is worth a stop for pictures, there are beautiful bull statues and a great view of the river.
To complete our all things Fixer Upper day, we stopped at the original Magnolia store. While you can’t go inside, or even pull in the parking lot, you can pull in next door and get a picture or two.
4- Our final day in Dallas we took a trip to Fort Worth, a short drive away. While Cowtown was underwhelming, more of a tourist trap. The town had beautiful boutiques.
