Wallpaper, Bench, Mirror, Light, Chair, Tray, Jars, Zebra
Slow and steady wins the race, right? That’s how I’m feeling with this downstair project. Slowly but surely it’s coming along and today I’m sharing the details of the closet room. Here’s where I’ll keep all of my pretty clothes, get ready and honestly maybe just hang out because it’s going to be so beautiful!
I plan on working with a closet company to build out the actual shelves (which if you know of any local ones, please connect us!) and have already started gather the design and decor details. Two long walls will be racks for hanging clothes one single rod for longer styles like dresses and maxi skirts and then a double rod on the opposite wall for shorter pieces like tops, blazers and skirts. The two shorter walls will consist of shelving to display shoes and purses. Behind these shelves will be the whimsy monkey wallpaper by Hello Dobson.
I also plan to built in a little desk/vanity area to do makeup and put on jewelry which is where the little bamboo chair comes in that I will cover the seat in the yellow stripe fabric and the bamboo mirror will hang above. The gorgeous Lo Home bench will be placed in the center of the room right by a gorgeous rug I am designing with June St. George. I can’t wait to share details on that as Ally has been so fabulous to work with and customize to ensure it matches the space. Above the bench and rug will be the cute flower pendant.
That’s the general layout of the space and I of course will fill in with decor that is both easy on the eyes and functional like that zebra ring dish, bamboo tray and ginger jars.
In the meantime as I gather more pieces, wait for the drywall to be hung, etc. I will be working with stylist and wardrobe expert Suzie Gaffney to help me pair down my clothes and discover new ways to wear old classics. I’ve never worked with a stylist before and while I don’t have trouble styling my outfits I do have trouble getting rid of things and staying focused. I’m hoping she can help me thin out my closet as well as hone in on what my style is as sometimes I find myself gravitating towards juvenile pieces when I’m almost 30 or pieces that are too trendy and I think are fun but then never wear or only wear once. I’ll share more on the process here and social media!
So what do you think so far?
